A few nights ago, I woke in the middle of the night from a dream. I couldn’t fully recall the details at first, but I knew—deep down—it wasn’t a good dream. As I lay there, I began to pray in the Spirit, speaking in tongues, trying to press into the realm of the Spirit for clarity. I kept praying, and after a few minutes, the dream came back to me. I remembered—and I persisted in prayer until I felt a release in my spirit. Then, the Holy Ghost impressed a scripture on my heart.
So, what do we do with dreams that don’t sit right with us? Do we shrug them off and say, “Maybe I just ate too much,” or “It’s just one of those things”? As children of God, we must understand that dreams are one of the ways God speaks to us.
“For God may speak in one way, or in another, yet man does not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, while slumbering on their beds…”
— Job 33:14–15
He reveals what is, what has been, and what is to come through dreams. But when we consistently neglect or downplay these spiritual impressions, it’s not that God stops speaking—He continues. However, something powerful happens when we begin to take them seriously: they begin to take root in our hearts, and their reality becomes more vivid in our lives.
“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.”
— Proverbs 25:2
Our response to spiritual promptings, whether through dreams, visions, or divine nudges, can either pacify, intensify, or stagnate the challenges we face. We carry the Spirit of the Lord within us, and He is always seeking ways to communicate with us. When He speaks through dreams, He desires our response. Don’t dismiss it.
The economy of Jesus invites us into divine partnership if we let Him lead; He navigates our lives according to His perfect will. We see a vivid example in the life of Joseph. The Bible does not record many direct encounters Joseph had with God, but it does emphasize his dreams. These were pictures he held on to, and through them, he was convinced that the Lord was with him, even in the pit and prison.
Friends, even if you’ve never heard God speak audibly, He may have already given you pictures, visions, impressions, and dreams that serve as proof of His presence with you. We are entering a season of divine shift—governments will change, systems will realign, and wealth will be redistributed. God is preparing His people to build structures that will matter in this coming era.
The question is: will you sit with what He has shown you? Will you search it out? Will you prepare for relevance in the season of the shift?
