I was having a conversation with my sister when she told me how most of her kids find some churches boring and not exciting.
It made me think about the rapid increase of misleading teachings—doctrines that suggest a Christian can sit on the fence, serve God, and still hold on to other things. Some say, “At the end, it’s your heart that God looks at, and as long as there is love in your heart, you’re fine.”
But this points to a deeper issue. It means we truly do not understand who Jesus is and why Jesus died if we believe we can live divided lives.
We cannot serve two masters” (Matthew 6:24).
And again, “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot… because you are lukewarm… I will spit you out of my mouth” (Revelation 3:15–16).
The truth is if you decide to sit on the fence, you are not actually in between; you are out of God's camp.
If sitting on the fence was acceptable, then there would have been no need for His sacrifice.
Jesus died for our salvation so that we would not live in confusion, but in faith, fully trusting in Him.
When we know Him, we know God. Every true encounter with Jesus is an encounter with God, because
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me’” (John 14:6).
There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is destruction (Proverbs 14:12). That path may feel right, look right, and even seem harmless but feelings are not the standard of truth.
Jesus took upon Himself that sentence of destruction.
“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive” (1 Corinthians 15:22).
He became the last Adam so that we could be free from the judgment of death and come into life.
Beloved, the decision to follow Jesus is not based on what feels right; it is a walk of faith.
And by the grace and mercies of God, we grow into the fullness of Christ.
So be sure the path you take today and trust God to help you through this journey of life.
