The Face of the Gospel

 


The gospel means different things to each of us. When we encounter God, it is often not from the same place or in the same state. Yet the reality remains: Christ meets us at our point of need.

Today, as I studied the Acts of the Apostles, specifically Paul’s journey, the Holy Spirit highlighted Paul’s vision of a man who cried out, “Come over to Macedonia and help us!”

The question the Lord is asking is this: What is the help you desire at this moment?

Acts 16:9 GNT:

“That night Paul had a vision in which he saw a Macedonian standing and begging him, ‘Come over to Macedonia and help us!’”

God’s Word:

“During the night Paul had a vision of a man from Macedonia. The man urged him, ‘Come to Macedonia to help us.’”

To some, the gospel is help. To others, it is salvation, peace, deliverance, restoration, victory, transformation, or rest. The list can never be exhausted, because our Savior brings us so much more than we can ever define. We cannot limit Him based on our personal experiences or encounters.

Our heart posture should not simply be, “Lord, I want to take my experience of You to the world,” but rather, “Lord, may I bring the gospel in a way that meets the true needs of Your people.”

This is what God is saying to us: Do not present the gospel as though it has only one expression or dimension of truth. Jesus is not confined to a single reality. In our journey with God, we must come with open hearts—like an empty vessel—ready for the unchanging God to reveal Himself in new and deeper ways.

When we introduce Jesus to others, we may encounter someone struggling with peace. And we can say: Yes, Jesus saves—but He is more than salvation alone. Embedded in His sacrifice is a covenant of peace, signed, sealed, and established forever.
