Several times in the Old Testament, Scripture tells us that the Spirit of God came upon certain people. We see this with Saul in 1 Samuel 11:6 and Samson in Judges 14:6 and 14:19, among others.
When the Spirit came upon them, God empowered them to accomplish great things, including leading His people into battle and giving them victory.
The same Spirit of God now dwells in every believer. But the question is: What have you been doing with His presence?
Have you given Him the wheel to navigate your life, or are there still areas of your life you have not allowed Him to enter?
The Spirit who empowered these men is the same Spirit who dwells in us. Through salvation, we have the privilege of walking with Him, seeking His guidance, and depending on Him in every area of our lives.
We have direct access to Him. We can ask Him to show us the way out of difficult situations, seek His wisdom in pressing decisions, and rely on His direction when we do not know what to do.
Unlike the days of Old, when the Spirit of God came upon people for specific assignments. But today, through salvation, the Holy Spirit dwells within us at all times. By faith we walk in fellowship with Him and allow Him to lead us.
The Holy Spirit can only manifest His guidance in your life to the extent that you involve Him.
Therefore, make it a culture to speak with Him—not only in quiet moments but also amid the noise and busyness of everyday life. Involve Him in your decisions, invite Him into your challenges, and seek His direction in all things.
Make fellowship with the Holy Spirit a daily practice, not an occasional experience.
